Nancy Kelly, 23, a Dulaney High School graduate, was killed in a crash Sunday in Norfolk, Va.
Kelly was a first-year medical student at Eastern Virginia Medical School. She graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College last year.
According to police, a suspected drunk driver into a minivan in which Kelly was a passenger. Police said that Thomas Walker of Virginia Beach was driving the SUV that rear-ended the minivan.
ABC13 in Norfolk reported that Walters has been charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit a blood sample.
Virginia Wesleyan College Vice President for Student affairs, Keith Moore released the following statement Sunday:
It is with great sadness that I share that Ms. Nancy Kelly, VWC class of 2015, was involved in an automobile accident last night and passed away early this morning. Nancy was a biology major and a member of the Honors and Scholars program, finishing her first year as a medical student at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Nancy was member of the women's basketball team and the Resident Life and Batten Center staffs. She was also very active in community service. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nancy's family, friends, and teammates, and to all those whose lives she touched.
