BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — A new tennis center opened at Goucher College on Friday and it honors a 102-year-old alumna and former staff member.
Evelyn Schroedl has a long history with the college, so it was fitting to put her name on the new facility which includes 12 outdoor courts and is available to the greater Baltimore community.
"I'm very happy about the tennis center...just like a country club," Schroedl said.
Schroedl started working at Goucher in 1949. She couldn't afford college and decided to attend part-time and worked full-time in the registrar's office. She ended up graduating at the age of 42 and then continued working at the college for more than 30 years.
