Baltimore County Public Schools were granted a waiver to mitigate the eight-hour deficit of high school hours by the Maryland State Board of Education during a meeting on Tuesday.
As a result of the approval, the last day of school for county students will be Friday, June 15.
A caveat of the approval was that the board would look to increase high school hours in the future. Baltimore County Public Schools will devise a plan to address the impending extended school day.
