The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration announced newly scheduled maintenance for the Light RailLink and Metro SubwayLink scheduled for the fall of 2018, Thursday.
Maintenance for the Metro SubwayLink will begin Sept. 14 and run until Nov. 4. All stations will be open as repairs are conducted. The work will take place on weekends, changing the service to single-tracking so riders can still utilize the system.
The five Light RailLink stations between Hunt Valley and the Timonium Fairgrounds will also undergo maintenance beginning Sept. 14. The work will continue until Oct. 4. This stretch of the Light RailLink will be shut down during the repair as track rails are being replaced. Riders can utilize the LocalLink 93 bus in the interim, which runs between those stations.
The MDOT MTA transit system recently received feedback from the American Public Transportation Administration Peer review. The report, as well as system inspections, can be found on the agency's website.
The scheduled maintenance is part of $900 million in planned rail infrastructure improvements during the next several years.
