ROSEDALE, Md. — A CSX train collided with a Volkswagen early Tuesday morning in Rosedale.

It happened a little after 7 a.m., on the tracks near Rosedale and Gilmore Avenue.

One person had to be rescued from the car. Baltimore County Fire officials say they were taken to Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries.

According to the fire department, the train didn't derail, but all railroad traffic has been put on hold while the scene is being investigated.

WMAR-2 News reporter Mark Roper was on scene and says that police told him that the collision happened at 68th Street and Lake Drive, which is less than a half mile away from where the train stopped.

Police tell us the train conductor saw the vehicle and blew the horn to try and get it off the tracks prior to the collision.

It remains under investigation how and why the car was on the tracks.
