A 28-year-old man was killed in a Parvkille home fire, two others were displaced.

Baltimore County firefighters responded to a fire in the 8700 block of Lackawanna Avenue at approximately 3:45 a.m. Sunday. Fire officials say it took crews about an hour to extinguish the flames and crews remained on the scene until 6:00 a.m.

Two occupants were able to get out of the house without injury, while a third was killed in the blaze. The victim has been identified as Daniel James Hutchins. Officials say Hutchins was trapped on the second floor and could not escape.

The home is completely inhabitable due to the flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but fire officials do not believe it was intentionally set.

A dog also died in the fire. Another dog escaped.

A friend of the family said the dog pictured above was able to escape the house, but ran away from firefighters. Her name is Emmy and she was last seen near the intersection of Joppa Road and Loch Raven Boulevard. She's very skittish, but if you see her, give Cindi Birkenbach Cannon a call at 410-299-7428.
