MIDDLE RIVER, Md. — Baltimore County Police charged a Baltimore County school student Sunday after threats were made on social media.
Officers received a 911 call from a concerned parent about a "threatening" post on Instagram Sunday night towards Middle River Middle School. Essex Precinct Detectives were able to determine the source of the post.
Detectives said the person responsible admitted to making the post and verified that the person responsible does not have the means to carry out the “threat” that was posted on Instagram.
A parent told WMAR-2 News that the principal of Middle River Middle School released a statement saying:
"The police have recently notified me that the threat against the school is not credible. However, out of an abundance of caution extra patrols will be in the area and around the school this (Monday) morning."
Police said the person responsible was charged as a juvenile.
