MIDDLE RIVER, Md. — A development in Middle River was the vision of Former Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and on Wednesday, a sculpture was dedicated in his memory.

The artwork is called "Turning Winds" and was created by Maryland Artist Will Hemsley. It's positioned adjacent to the Berkleigh, a multi-family development on Greenleigh Avenue. The next phase in the development is a 1,000 acre mixed-use community called Greenleigh at Crossroads.

This is all part of Kamenetz's vision for developing that area.

"Today is a great example of the progress being made here in Middle River across Baltimore County and it's a great dedication of the statue to the community, but also Kevin Kamenetz who was a long standing county executive, my predecessor," said Johnny Olszewski, Baltimore County Executive. "He did a great job having the vision to make this project come to fruition."

Kamenetz was the County Executive from 2010 to 2018. He died unexpectedly of a heart attack last year.
