BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — A Sparrows Point High School student was injured after partaking in the TikTok "Skull Breaker Challenge."

Baltimore County Public Schools confirmed that a student who attends the high school was injured doing the challenge.

A spokesperson from BCPS said they are not aware of any elementary students being injured from the challenge.

Below is a statement BCPS shared with the Sparrows Point High community last week:

I am calling to make our families aware of a trending social media challenge called “The Skull Breaker Challenge” which is spreading on the TikTok cellphone app and possibly other social media applications. During this “challenge,” a student is encouraged to jump and then his or her legs are kicked out from under the jumper. This is dangerous behavior and has already caused an injury to a Sparrows Point High School student. We have alerted our staff to be aware of this behavior throughout the building. We are informing our families so that parents can speak to their children about the seriousness of injuries that can occur as a result of this challenge.

I want to take this opportunity to remind our school community of the appropriate use and impact of social media. We encourage parents to speak to their children about the appropriate use of these tools, including social media sites. We also encourage parents to refrain from sharing and forwarding these messages, as well.

The safety of our students is our top priority in providing a positive learning environment. Thank you for your support of Sparrows Point High School.
