Three Baltimore County Public School students have been selected from among 2,500 high school seniors to receive $2,500 scholarships sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the school system announced Wednesday.
The honored students are:
- Daniel J. Li of Catonsville High School, who wants to pursue a career in political science.
- Danna C. Boland of Dulaney High School, who has not yet decided on a major or career plans.
- Timothy W. Mahoney of Hereford High School, who intends on a career in scientific research.
The trio joins what will be about 7,600 National Merit Scholar Finalists who will have won National Merit Scholarship by the end of this year’s competition, the school district said. The awards represent a total of $31 million in scholarships. The winners were picked from about 1.6 million juniors attending some 22,000 high schools who entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship competition.
