Tuesday Towson University broke ground on its latest improvement to its campus.
A new science complex will be going up along York Road. It will be the largest academic building on campus.
The complex will be home to 50 teaching labs, 30 research labs, 50 classrooms, 10 collaborative student spaces, 8 lecture halls and an outdoor classroom.
"Here in this space, TU students, Maryland's next generation of scientists and health professionals, will experience transitional opportunities that will drive Maryland's stem and healthcare economy for decades and decades to come," said university President Dr. Kim Schatzel.
The complex is on track to be completed by August 2020. It will replace Smith Hall as the primary science building on campus.
