PARKVILLE, Md. — Baltimore County Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting of an 18-year-old man in Parkville.
On May 14, at around 10:30 p.m., officers were called to the 8900 block of Old Harford Road for a report of a shooting. They were advised that an 18-year-old man had been shot and driven to an area hospital by family members.
After doing some investigating, detectives determined that, about an hour before the shooting, the victim was involved in a confrontation with a group of men at a gas station on Joppa Road.
Within the group was 19-year-old Chimel Witherspoon, of the 1300 block of Dalton Road, and 20-year-old Demonte Poole, of the 3300 block of Dudley Avenue. Witherspoon shot and hit the victim once in the upper body.
He was arrested on May 22 and is being held without bail on the following charges:
- Attempted first degree murder
- Attempted second degree murder
- First degree assault
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony/crime of violence
- Illegal possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm with a felony conviction
- Possession of a firearm by a minor
Poole was arrested on May 21 and is also being held without bail. His charges include:
- Attempted first degree murder
- Attempted second degree murder
- First degree assault
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a crime
Officials also confirmed that three juveniles have also been charged in connection with this crime. Their identities, however, will not be released.
