Two men are behind bars charged in the shooting death of a 13-year-old girl.

Iyanna Nachae Watkins, 13, was shot and killed last July and two other men were hurt. Police said two men started firing into a crowd.

On Friday, Detectives arrested and charged Alphonso Smith, III, 19, and Roger Eastmond, Jr., 19, with her murder and attempted murder.

The shooting happened just before midnight on July 31, 2017 in the 700 block of Peterson Road.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument between Smith and a friend of the two adult victims.

After the fight, Smith told the group he'd be back. Later that night, police said Smith and Eastmond found the victims with a group of people sitting behind the 7-Eleven store on Peterson Road.

The two men started shooting into the crowd and hit three people, including 13-year-old Watkins.

Detectives say she was not the intended target.

Eastmond and Smith are being held at the Baltimore County Department of Corrections on denied bail status.
