PIKESVILLE, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a deadly pedestrian crash that killed a woman on the outer loop of I-695 in Baltimore County.

Police say troopers were called to the reported crash around 12:37 a.m. Thursday at exit 22, Greenspring Avenue. An investigation revealed that the woman, identified as 21-year-old Micheli Monteia Williams, was a passenger in a car that was disabled on the shoulder of I-695. They say Williams walked into the highway's second lane in an attempt to flag down a driver when she was struck.

Williams was taken to Sinai Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Officials say the driver that struck Williams stayed on the scene after the incident and was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
