COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration said a water main break will cause a portion of York Road to be closed through Tuesday morning.
A repair crew closed the road in both directions between Shawan Road and Ashland Road in the Hunt Valley/Cockeysville area early Monday morning.
Officials tell WMAR-2 News that there is no sinkhole, but the road is buckled.
According to the Baltimore DPW, repairs are nearing completion and the hope is to have the main back on by Monday night. The State would then have to back fill and repave portions of the road damaged by the water main break before re-opening.
Last week, crews spent hours repairing a massive sinkhole on York Road between Padonia Road and Roosevelt Street in Timonium. Baltimore County officials said the sinkhole was larger than the average size of a backyard swimming pool at 8 feet deep, 30 feet wide and 50 feet long.

MDOT SHA is asking drivers to avoid the area, and use alternate routes such as I-83 to Timonium Road, until repairs are made.
