TIMONIUM, Md. — Baltimore County Department of Public Works crews reopened York Road Thursday morning, following a massive sinkhole.
Crew opened both lanes of York Road, between Padonia Road and Roosevelt Street in Timonium just before 7:00 a.m. Baltimore County officials told WMAR-2 News that sinkhole repairs are complete for now.

On Wednesday, DPW officials said that an end cap to a 12-inch water main gave way during construction, and it released a flood of water, causing the road to cave in.

According to Baltimore County officials, the sinkhole was larger than the average size of a backyard swimming pool at 8 feet deep, 30 feet wide and 50 feet long.

Workers stayed on the scene overnight to repair the road.
