Carroll County announces state of emergency after first confirmed case of coronavirus

WESTMINSTER, Md. — Carroll County health officials say they have confirmed their first case of the coronavirus.

During a press conference on Friday, officials said they are declaring a local state of emergency and postponing any public gatherings.

They said the person is a man in his 40s who had mild symptoms and is currently recovering at home.

The case is Maryland's 18th confirmed.
