WESTMINSTER, Md. — A jury convicted a New Windsor man on charges related to sexual abuse and the rape of a young child.
According to the Carroll County State’s Attorney Office, 55-year-old Jay Bevard Eline was arrested back in May 2019 by members of the Carroll County Advocacy and Investigation Center (CCAIC) and charged with sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl in a camper outside a residence in New Windsor.
He continued to abuse the little girl from February and April 2019 until she told relatives and school officials.
After a three-day jury trial, Eline was found not guilty of three of the seven charges included in the State’s indictment. He was convicted of one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, one count of Second-Degree Rape, one count of Third-Degree Sex Offense and one count of Second Degree Assault.
Eline is currently held no bail and will be held at the Carroll County Detention Center until his sentencing hearing on June 3, 2020.
