WESTMINSTER, Md. — A 45-year-old man had to be extricated from his car and taken to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore after he crashed into a tree in Westminster Thursday, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s Deputies, firefighters, and EMS personnel were sent to the 500 block of E. Saw Mill Road for a reported crash at about 7:15 p.m. There, responders found a single-vehicle accident in which a 2000 Honda had left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The car’s lone occupant, driver Kevin D. Buser of Westminster, was trapped in his vehicle following the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said. Emergency personnel were able to remove Buses from the car, and a Maryland State Police helicopter brought him to Shock Trauma with serious injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office said Buser was driving south on E. Saw Mill road when his Honda left the roadway and struck the tree. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who has pertinent information about the crash should contact Cpl. Vanik at 410-386-5900.
