A private aircraft practicing flight maneuvers prompted an emergency response in Carroll County, Thursday night.

Duan Bryant, 30, of Greenbelt, Md., and Casey Lechter, 30, of Silver Spring, Md., were practicing "touch and go" maneuvers – a training exercise where pilots attempt to take off and land repeatedly without coming to a full stop – in their 1977 Piper Aero 3 at the Carroll County Regional Airport. As they approached the end of the runway, the plane's engine lost power, and the pair conducted an emergency landing, coming to rest in the grass near the end of the runway.

Maryland State Police from the Westminster Barrack were notified of the incident and responded along with Fire/EMS personnel from the Westminster Fire Department. No injuries were reported.
