A firefighter is hurt while battling a barn fire in Carroll County.
Crews were called out to the barn on Uniontown Road in Uniontown Monday night. The barn was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters got there.
The barn housed several animals, but they were all rescued by the owners before crews got to the scene. It took firefighters from New Windsor, Union Bridge, Taneytown, Pleasant Valley, Harney and New Midway fire companies over an hour to knock the fire.
One firefighter was hurt when a beam fell and hit him on the head. He was taken to the hospital, treated for minor injuries, and released.
The barn is a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
