SYKESVILLE, Md. — According to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, they've transferred a number of inmates to a high-security prison after they allegedly refused to go into their living area and attempted to assault staff this afternoon at Central Maryland Correctional Facility in Sykesville.

Those with the DPSCS are identifying instigators.

Officials say the inmates involved will face criminal and administrative charges, and, potentially, additional prison time.

There were no fires set or serious staff injuries; several employees reported minor injuries and at no time was there a threat to the public.
