Maryland State Troopers from the Westminster Barrack have investigated a fatal vehicle crash that happened early Friday evening.
At about 6:30 p.m., Troopers were called to Old Taneytown and Mayberry Roads because a car was found in a pond. When they arrived, Troopers found an upside down Honda Accord in the said pond, which was on the north side of Old Taneytown Road. Fire and EMS rescue personnel removed the driver, 27-year-old Timothy O’Halloran Dunn, of Taneytown, from the vehicle and started resuscitation efforts. Dunn was taken to Carroll Hospital Center by an ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Dunn was driving westbound on Old Taneytown Road when he, for unknown reasons, left the roadway, struck a BG&E utility pole, fencing and eventually come to a stop in a pond that was located on the property of 1920 Mayberry Road.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by medical and rescue from Taneytown, Pleasant Valley, Gamber fire departments and MSP Aviation Division.
