A smoke alarm saved a family after a fire started in the garage of their home.
The fire broke out around 12:30 Friday morning on Dulaney Terrace in Westminster.
The smoke alarm woke up the family of five, all of whom escaped the burning building.
It took firefighters from six departments about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.
The fire caused $250,000 in damage. Investigators are trying to figure out how it started. The Red Cross is helping the family.
