WESTMINSTER, Md. — The trooper who was stabbed during a deadly shooting in Westminster has been identified.
Trooper First Class Tyler Michael was stabbed after approaching Michael D’Angelo who was allegedly slashing tires in the Westminster area.

Trooper Michael was called to the area after reports of tires being slashed, but when he approached D'Angelo, he was stabbed. Trooper Michael then reportedly took out his gun, fired at D'Angelo and hit him. D'Angelo was later pronounced dead at Carroll Hospital Center.
Trooper Michael is a six year veteran of the Maryland State Police. He remains on administrative leave, which is standard, as he recovers from his injury.
The investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
