While checking on an injured deer on the side of the road, a Carroll County Sheriff's car was struck in a hit-and-run, the sheriff's department said.
At about 7:50 a.m. Friday, a Deputy stopped a marked vehicle in the 6200 block of Woodbine Road to check on the deer. The car's lights were activated and the deputy was outside the vehicle, when another vehicle heading south struck the patrol car's driver's side. The deputy was uninjured, but the patrol car was no longer drivable.
The striking vehicle did not stop and fled south on Woodbine Road.
The vehicle is described as a dark colored mini-van and should have front end damage.
Carroll County Sheriff's Crash Reconstruction Unit responded and is investigating the accident.
Anyone with information about the accident should contact Corporal Vanick at 410-396-5900.
