Human remains found in Cecil County, Maryland State Police said

ELKTON, Md. — Possible human remains were found Sunday in a wooded area in Elkton, Maryland State Police said.

An Elkton resident called police after discovering what appeared to be human remains in the wooded area near Red Hill Road around noon on Sunday, police said. Members of the Criminal Enforcement Division of the State Police responded, along with crime scene technicians, investigators from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, and a forensic investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The scene was processed, and the remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine manner and cause of death. Police did not reveal how long the body had been in the woods, nor a description of the remains that were found.
