A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle late Saturday night.
Maryland State Police say the incident happened just before 11 p.m. in the left eastbound lane of Pulaski Highway west of Mechanics Valley Road in North East.
A preliminary investigation revealed a pedestrian identified as 31-year-old Lauren Brusca was crossing the roadway when she was struck by a Honda Odyssey operated by Robert Malinowski,47, of Earleville.
Brusca of Horsham, Pennsylvania was flown by helicopter to Shock Trauma where she succumbed to her injuries early Sunday morning.
Officials say Brusca was not in a crossing zone and was wearing dark clothing in a low light area.
Investigators are unsure at this time if alcohol was a factor.
The eastbound lanes of Pulaski Highway between Rogers and Mechanics Valley Roads were closed for approximately five hours while an accident reconstructionist investigated.
