A head-on collision in Cecil County left one driver dead, Saturday.
At about 2:45 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police North East Barrack responded to the scene of a two-car crash on Conowingo Road in Rising Sun, Md. A 1997 Kia Sephia traveling south on Conowingo Road left the roadway, striking the guardrail on the right shoulder and then careened back into the road, crossing to the northbound lanes, where it struck a Dodge Ram pick up truck head on.
The driver of the Kia, Cecil W. Atwood, 79, of Rising Sun, was pronounced dead at the scene by Cecil County Emergency Services. The driver of the Dodge, Eric Carpenter, 52, of Pottstown, Pa. was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment of his injuries.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Maryland State Police East Barrack as the investigation continues.
