Person found dead in two alarm fire in Elkton

A person is dead after an early Wednesday morning fire in Elkton.

According to the State Fire Marshals Office, the incident occurred in a residential outbuilding located at 929 Blake Road.

A neighbor reportedly discovered the fire around 3:16 a.m. and called 911.

It took about 45 minutes and a total of 30 firefighters from Cecil County as well as out of state crews from Delaware and Pennsylvania to battle the blaze.

After the fire was extinguished, an adult victim was found deceased inside the structure.

Investigators found no evidence of any working smoke alarms at the time of the incident. It's estimated the fire caused $65,000 in damages.

The origin and cause of the fire remains under investigation.

At this time the victims identity has not been released. An autopsy will be conducted by the Medical Examiner's Office to determine the exact cause of death.

Maryland State Police is also investigating the death.
