A tractor trailer struck two vehicles stopped in the shoulder of southbound I-95 before overturning and killing the driver, Maryland State Police said.

A state trooper from the JFK Barrack was conducting a traffic stop at 1:45 p.m. at the 97-mile marker of I-95 South in North East, Md., when the tractor trailer struck the trooper's vehicle, then came to a stop before overturning on the right shoulder, state police said.

The trooper was outside of his cruiser on the shoulder of the road, and the driver of the stopped vehicle was also outside of the car at the time of the accident. Neither were injured.

The crash resulted in all lanes of southbound I-95 at mile marker 97 being shut down. An investigation of the accident is on going.
