Maryland State Police are investigating after a woman was struck by a car Sunday morning on I-95 in Elkton. Police say officers were called just after 9:30 a.m. to the crash near Exit 109 where they found the woman with life-threatening injuries; she was rushed to Christiana Hospital in Delaware.
Police say the woman, 32-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Gotfredson of Abingdon, left her car on the shoulder of the road and walked into the highway; multiple drivers were able to avoid her before a box truck driver struck her. The truck driver remained on scene.
Police closed I-95 South with traffic only getting by on the right shoulder while investigating; traffic was delayed to the Delaware state line.
Police will continue to investigate; no one else was injured.
