PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — A 19-year-old Virginia woman was killed when her car crashed into a wooded median on Route 13 in Somerset County, Maryland State Police said.
A trooper came across the crash scene at about 1:35 a.m. Tuesday along southbound Route 13, near Stewart Neck Road in Princess Anne, Md. The initial investigation showed that a white Dodge Magnum with Maryland plates heading south on Route 13 left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck the “heavily wooded portion of the center median,” police said. The woman was the vehicle’s lone occupant and driver. She was determined to have died at the scene.
Since the woman was from Painter, Va., police alerted the Accomoack County Sheriff’s Office in that state to notify next of kin. The woman’s mother and father later met troopers at the Princess Anne Barrack.
A deconstructionist from the state police responded to the scene to aid in the investigation. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Highway Administration are participating in the investigation as well.
