A shark with its own social media account took a beach trip to Ocean City over the weekend.
An online map tracking all of the 'shark spottings' showed a recent spotting of “Brunswick,” a Great White Shark with his own social media following.
The nearly 9-foot long and more than 400 pound shark can be observed safely from the Twitter account @BrunswickShark. The shark is named for the people of Brunswick, Ga., said OCEARCH, a “data-centric organization built to help scientist collect previously unattainable data in the ocean,” according to the organization’s website.
Brunswick was spotted off the coast of the Eastern Shore around 4:38 a.m. Friday, according to OCEARCH’s website.
He was first pinged on the site Feb. 26 off the coast of Hilton Head in South Carolina. Brunswick has since traveled nearly 1,300 miles to the waters off Maryland.
