A 67-year-old man was killed early Tuesday morning while crossing Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Ocean City Police said.
The man, from Kutztown, Pa., was crossing at 94th Street, east to west in the north crosswalk against the pedestrian signal around 1:11 a.m., when he was hit by a marked Ocean City Police patrol vehicle driven by an on-duty officer. The officer, a 5-year veteran of the department, was traveling southbound on Coastal Highway on routine patrol, police said.
The man was taken by Ocean City EMS to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating.
