When Carmen Tolliver started working as a school crossing guard in Harford County, she didn't expect it to turn into a long-term gig.

Now, 28 years later, Tolliver has had the opportunity to watch countless students grow up before her eyes. Some of these students she watched progress from Kindergarten, through middle and high school and then return with their own young children to cross the same streets.
She spends mornings directing traffic in Fallston and afternoons helping elementary school students get safely across the street in Joppatowne.
"A Day in the Life" is a recurring photo series by ABC2 News staff member Kirsten Dize. If you know someone you think would be great to feature in this way, send information in an email to kirsten.dize@wmar.com.
