HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — Whether you were born and raised, or stayed long enough to have your cone drip at Bomboy’s, you know Havre De Grace is a special town. Why? It’s the people like Malgorzata Baker and Paula Casagrande.

Mal, who is a famous photographer, felt terrible seeing the final class ever to pass through the old Havre De Grace High School go out with nothing. So she decided to raise money to put banners up in town to salute the Class of 2020.

She met her goal in a heartbeat. Now every single senior will have his or her own flag on all the poles going through town.

Paula, who runs Big House Signs is making the banners and getting goose bumps knowing how people came out to help.

Mayor Bill Martin was on board from the start and he says all parts of Havre De Grace will be celebrating a senior for the next several months. Havre De Grace will be getting a new school in the fall, so this is the final class at the old one.

It’s sad that another tradition is lost, every class puts on their caps and gowns and goes back to elementary school to parade in front of the little ones.

Now they’ll have to parade down Juniata and Revolution and Lafeyette to see their owns faces of 2020.
