HARFORD CO, Md. — The cat that survived a house fire in Edgewood is on its way to a full recovery.

He was found a day after a home on Simons Court went up in flames.

Members of the Harford County Humane Society have been nursing the cat back to health, soaking his paws and face three times a day to help heal his burns. They describe him as "a little fighter."

Three people were killed in the fire, including the cat's owners and other pets. The property manager is facing further scrutiny about code issues at other buildings he oversees.

"There were other animals in the home and somehow this one just made it out," said Erin Long, Humane Society member.

The cat's name was originally Smokey, but because of the incident, the shelter has renamed him Sedona.

Sedona is a city in Arizona, and Long says it means a place of healing.
