ABINGDON, Md. — A dog died and three people were displaced when a garage attached to a house in Abingdon caught fire Monday morning, the Office of the State Fire Marshall confirmed.

Roughly 30 firefighters responded to the one-alarm blaze in the 400 block of Crisfield Drive. The house is owned by Ronald and Karen Hollaway, the Fire Marshall said. The blaze was put under control in about 20 minutes. Between $25,000 and $50,000 of damage was caused. Firefighters attempted to resuscitate the the dog, but the pet died from smoke inhalation.

The preliminary investigation links the cause of the fire to an electrical failure. Harford County Disaster Assistance is helping the family find lodging while they are displaced.
