Former Del. B. Daniel Riley dead at 70

Former Maryland Del. B. Daniel Riley has died. He was 70.

Wayne Debree, who is a cousin to Riley's wife Linda, said Riley died Wednesday evening.

Riley was a Democrat who represented Harford County from 1999 to 2003. His district included parts of Cecil and Harford counties from 2007 to 2011. He lived in Edgewood.

Riley worked as a seventh-grade social studies teacher at Magnolia Middle School. He also served on a citizen advisory commission formed in 1993 to explore alternative methods for disposing of mustard gas at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

His district included Joppatown, Edgewood, Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Abingdon and parts of Bel Air.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, and daughter, Anna.
