A man is in critical condition after being hit by a semi-truck on Route 40 in Aberdeen.
At approximately 12:47 a.m. Thursday, Aberdeen police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a tractor-trailer on westbound Route 40 near Carol Avenue.
Officers arrived to find a man lying injured on the road.
Police say the man was walking in a dimly lit section of Route 40 on a non-crosswalk, non-intersection area portion of the road.
The man was transported by Maryland State Police Medevac to Shock Trauma.
The driver stayed on the scene, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
