Say good-bye to spontaneous weekend trips to Kilgore Falls at Rocks State Park in Harford County, at least during the busy spring and summer season.

A new reservation system starts June 24th, at that time reservations will be taken for June 29th and beyond.

This means people who are visiting on weekends and holidays will have to make reservations in order to park at Kilgore Falls. Park officials created the system because of the influx of people who visit Kilgore Falls at the Falling Branch area of the park.

An average of 300 cars have to be turned away on busy summer weekends. The parking lot, off Falling Branch Road, only holds 28 cars and there is no other off-site parking in the nearby area.

Under the new system, people who want to visit will have to reserve a spot. Those people will then have a guaranteed parking. No reservation is needed for a weekday visit. Park officials say it's a bit more manageable during the week. Reservations are only required on weekends and holidays between the Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day.

The park will begin accepting reservations on June 24. Parking is free.

You can call 410-557-7994 Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - noon to make one.
