Student charged after using pepper spray in school bathroom altercation

EDGEWOOD, Md (WMAR) — A 16-year-old student is charged after using pepper spray during an altercation inside a public school bathroom.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 7:15 a.m. inside Edgewood High School in Harford County.

A School Resource officer found that the female suspect had targeted another female student inside the bathroom and discharged the substance in the victims direction.

Two other female students inside the bathroom at the time were also exposed to the pepper spray. Each was treated on campus by the school nurse.

The suspect is being charged as a juvenile with three counts of second degree assault, possessing a weapon on school property and disturbing school operations.
