HOWARD COUNTY — A 19-year-old was killed in a car accident in Columbia.
On Thursday, at 10:12 p.m., a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling north on Harpers Farm Road approaching Route 108 when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree.
The driver and sole occupant, Lance Christopher Mercy of Ellicott City, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
Harpers Farm Road in the area of Route 108 was closed for about three hours.
