55-year-old man dies in Howard County crash on I-70

WATERLOO, Md. — A 55-year-old man died when his car left the roadway of I-70 and crashed into trees in Howard County, Maryland State Police said.

Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on westbound I-70 east of Marriottsville Road at about 11:50 a.m. Tuesday. There they found a 2013 Hyundai Veloster that had crashed into the treeline.

Police said the Hyundai was heading west on I-70 when, for reasons unknown, the driver, the car’s lone occupant, left the roadway and overturned into the tree-line. The driver was declared dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld until family is notified.

No other cars were involved.
