An 83-year-old woman was killed Thursday in a 2-car crash on Marriottsville Road, Howard County Police said.
Betty Marie Langowski, 83, of Sykesville was traveling north on the road toward Carroll County when her 2008 Chevrolet Impala crossed the double yellow center line, striking a 2001 Ford Escape head on.
Langowski was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver in the Escape, Lauren Ashley Ogunkoyode, 27, of Columbia was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she is in critical condition.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that Langowski may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the incident.
