Howard County police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Ellicott City around 3:00 a.m.
The car was traveling along Columbia Road near Hemlock Cone Way when it veered off the road and struck a tree.
The passenger Audrey Birmingham, 21, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver Daniel Lipscomb, 24, was flown to shock trauma for non-life threatening injuries.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
No charges have been filed at this time.
