Howard County drops charges against escaped inmate

Howard County dropped all charged against escape inmate David Michael Watson at a Howard County District Court Wednesday. 

Watson, who escaped a prison last week, was recaptured by county police.

The Howard County State's Attorney's Office says Watson was transported back to Wicomico County where he also faces a first-degree escape charge. He was previously charged with first-degree escape, second-degree escape and second-degree assault in Howard County.

Watson is serving a sentence of more than 100 years in a Delaware prison for attempted murder. He is also charged in Wicomico County for attempted murder of police officers and was being transported for a periodic psychiatric evaluation when he escaped custody.

Friday's hearing, which was initial scheduled to take place in Howard County will now be in Wicomico County.
