HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — Howard County Food Bank helps more than 35,000 people a year with healthy food choices offered to families.
Food banks across the state are needed to help many get by.
Trudy Annhall is a single mother that worked her way through college and now has the demanding job as an ER nurse. That was a lot, so she asked for help from the Howard County Food Bank.
"I think there's a stigma for people asking for help, it makes people hesitant," Annhall said.
Annhall didn't hesitate knowing two daughters, 10 and 12 years old, depend on her.
Jen Grieb, with the Community Action Council says once a month, if you qualify, you can come shop for 3 to 5 days of food for your family for free.
The federal stipulation for poverty is a family of 4 earning $28,000.
You can make a cash or food donation to Howard County or any food bank across the state year round and many donations can be made online.
