Fourth graders at Linton Springs Elementary School helped build 20 concrete reef balls as part of the Coastal Conservation Association of Maryland's Living Reef Action Campaign.
The reef balls will provide habitat for oysters to begin rebuilding a reef. Right now, oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay is at less than 1 percent of its historic population.
Students at the Sykesville school have studied water quality and the importance of the oyster in the Bay.
